In 2035, the world had experienced global warming that had exceeded 2 degrees above preindustrial levels. This led to significant changes such as the disappearance of mountain glaciers and rivers, increased flooding, and difficulty in maintaining basic food supplies. Governments across the globe were forced to come up with a radical plan to address the impending disaster.
The final solution was to reduce individualistic activities that had a negative impact on the environment. This involved the construction of modern wall cities, which began in Saudi Arabia in the 2020s. These cities are powered by clean energy sources and managed by machine learning to minimize environmental footprints. The controlled environment also features beautiful parks and recreational spaces.

YELLOW DAY
Year 2089, London
The Yellow Day Ritual takes place in London in the year 2089, envisioning a future scenario where society grapples with challenges such as overpopulation and limited resources. This narrative delves into the intertwining realms of culture, sustainability, and traditional rituals. In this society, every individual's lifespan is limited to 50 years in order to manage the depletion of scarce resources.
At the core of this concept lies the Ritual Garment, a Jacket worn by individuals as they approach the age of 50, symbolizing an act of selflessness for the greater good. The jacket is infused with pure argon gas on the day of the ritual using a method that induces unconsciousness through gas asphyxiation. Subsequently, it peacefully dilates the oxygen in the lungs, leading to the end of an individual's life. Society embraces this gesture as a sacrifice made for the benefit of all.
The Yellow Day Ritual serves as an exploration into the potential evolution of cultural and environmental dynamics in a plausible future. It raises the question of how we will manage our resources when the population reaches its peak, and whether we are willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.

In a world where genetic modification is used to enhance our bodies and senses, people strive to be more productive. This leads to our identity being defined by our self-worth, with our professions and the roles we play in the workplace. What kind of society are we building when our worth is measured solely by our productivity?
